Dr. Anthony F. Smith, is a Co-Founder and a Managing Director of the Leadership Research Institute, based in Rancho Santa Fe, and recognized as one of the leading management consulting firms in the world, specializing in Leadership Development and Assessment. He has been an active consultant for over twenty years in the areas of organizational change and assessment, team building, executive coaching and development, and leadership training and design. He has served clients in a variety of fields, including, American Express, The National Football League, the Coca-Cola Company, The National Geographic Society, Seimans AG, The Walt Disney Company, Deutsche Bank, Spencer Stuart, Hewlett Packard, ESPN, KKR, Goldman Sachs, and McKinsey and Company.
Anthony has served on the teaching and research faculties of several universities, including the University of California, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and received a Visiting Professorship at the EAP European Graduate School of Management at Oxford, UK. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in the Behavioral Sciences and earned his Doctorate from the School of Leadership Science and Education at the University of San Diego. Following his Doctorate, he was appointed as a Post-Doctoral Fellow of social anthropology at the University of California, where he studied leadership and cultural change. His research, writings, and reviews on leadership have appeared in several publications, including the European Journal of Management, the Journal of Leadership Studies, Businessweek, The Economist, The Investors Business Daily, and the best-selling books, The Leader of the Future and The Organization of the Future, both published by the Drucker Foundation. He is also the author of the critically acclaimed business book, The Taboos of Leadership, published by Jossey Bass, May 2007. He serves on several boards, including the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Anthony lives in Rancho Santa Fe, California.
